Review:
Vampire Diaries is a really good and easy read, It really does go by really fast. The storyline and plot are also really good and it makes you wonder where L.J. Smith gets her idea and inspirations from. Although there is a tv series based on the books the show and book are almost completely different. They do have similarities, but if you watch the show that doesnt mean you know what happens in the books. The show has taken on a mind of its own so when you read the book you while watching the show you shouldnt have too many spoilers and wont get them confused. This is kind of a bad thing, because then its hard to remember what happened in the books if you take a hiatus from reading and just watch the show, and vice versa. They really are that different. I read this book a long time ago and was so excited that they were making a show out of it, but when i watched it i was so disappointed only because of how much they altered it. Now that i have been watching for awhile im glad that they changed it, because then they wont ruin what the readers imagined in their heads.

The only bad thing about the book was the transitions through time. L.J. Smith didnt really do well with going from a crush to full blown love, she kinda just made it happen over night, but overall the book was good. I think if i hadn't already read the book before that the ending would have blown me away. It is a really big cliff hanger, and i know when i did read it the first time that i had to keep going onto the second book right after .

Overall:
This was a really good book. It did have a few moments when i was really mad at L.J. Smith for making certain things happen because it made no sense to me, as far as character development, and there are some bad transitions, but overall it is a really fast and easy read. The book as a whole flows smoothly and is cohesive and it is definitely a  page turner. You probably wont be able to put this down once you start. I know i usually make goals while reading, like ill only read to chapter 5 and then go to bed, but i always went past my goals and read till i was too tired.
