BBReview: "Lux Series 3: Opal" By Jennifer L. Armentrout

Genre: Young Adult - Romance/Fantasy/Science Fiction
Publishing Date: December 11th, 2012
Page Count: 382
Source: Personally bought from Barnes & Noble
Format: Paperback

Description from Goodreads.com:
No one is like Daemon Black.

When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.

But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

Review:
If you read the Lux series then you will know that so far Opal is definitely the most intense book of the series. There are a lot of dark feelings that are through out this book. Something is definitely shifting in this series and I don't know if it's going to end up being good or bad. I absolutely love this series and I really hope that with only two more books left it ends on a positive note. Like true love, happily ever after, positive. I absolutely love Katy and Daemon and I really just want their relationship to work out in the end of this series. It will make my life complete.

Pain is another theme in Opal. There are so many feelings hurt and so many people trying to pick up the pieces of their lives to try and get things back to normal. There really isn't anything good that happens in Opal and it is just full of dark depression, but I still enjoyed it a lot. The whole time I really just wanted to jump in the book and give Katy a hug. She really seemed to need one and us book bloggers have to stick together.

*spoiler*
I really did not a agree at all with the way that Katy handled Blake. I really honestly felt like she should have told Daemon, no matter what the consequences were going to be for Blake. If he didn't want to get his ass kicked by Daemon then he shouldn't have been so damn creepy around Katy. I just didn't agree with her hiding everything he did from Daemon, especially when he went too far.
*end of spoiler*

There was one small thing that really threw me for a loop in this book and that was how many typos there were. For a published book there shouldn't have been so many. There were misspellings, words missing, and some inconsistencies throughout the book, like for example how Katy wears a stone in the end. It kept changing from being around her neck to in her pocket. It was just something I was not expected from a published, popular book.

Even though this book was so, for lack of a better word, depressing I absolutely loved it. It made my soul ache for there to be a ray of sunshine somewhere, but it really got me that much more invested in this series. I cannot wait for book four to get to my house in the mail already. I need to know what is going to happen next, especially with that HUGE cliffhanger ending. I could seriously write a letter about that ending lol. How dare Jennifer do that to us, I feel like I am going to die!

Overall:
Absolutely great installment to the series. Opal is definitely the most intense book of the series so far, and it makes sense since it's the middle book with only two more books left in the series. This was a very deep, dark, and depressing book but I absolutely loved it. I really hope that the series ends up ending on a happily ever after note, though. I really want Katy and Daemon to be together and in love by the end. I didn't agree with Katy on how she handled a certain creepy character, but there is nothing I can do, but complain about it. The ending is a HUGE cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read book four already.
