BBReview: "Prom & Prejudice" By Elizabeth Eulberg

Genre: Young Adult -Contemporary
Publishing Date: January 1st, 2011
Page Count: 231
Source: Borrowed from local library
Format: Hardcover

Description from Amazon:
From the much-buzzed-about author of THE LONELY HEARTS CLUB (already blurbed by Stephenie Meyer, Lauren Myracle, and Jen Calonita), a prom-season delight of Jane Austen proportions.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single girl of high standing at Longbourn Academy must be in want of a prom date.

After winter break, the girls at very prestigious, girls-only Longbourn Academy are obsessed with the prom, which they share with the equally elitist, all-boys Pemberly school. Lizzie Bennett, who attends Longbourn on scholarship, isn't interested in designer dresses and expensive shoes, but her best friend, Jane, might be - especially now that Charles Bingley is back from a semester in London.

Review:
*Sigh* such a cute, fluffy novel. This is the type of book that you read when you just want to read something light and romantic. I picture people reading this on a rainy day or when they are heart broken or just want a change of pace from all the paranormal they have been reading. I loved this novel SO much and found myself imagining scenes from Keira Knightley's Pride & Prejudice while hearing the words from the book. Pride & Prejudice has always been one of my favorite movies and so this book was just breath taking to be able to read something so close to such a beautiful tale, while still keeping me interested, because it was a Young Adult.

I honestly don't have anything that i found wrong with the novel, except that it ended. I wish it would go on forever and that Lizzie and Darcy would of had TONS of romance scenes. I still really, really loved it. I started this book on Wednesday night and expected i would be done no later than Friday night...i read it cover to cover on Wednesday night. I work at a college book store and it is the first week of classes so i got longer hours and more days this weeks and have been BEAT and totally drained so you know it must be a pretty darn good story if it's keep me from my second true love... sleep.

Overall:
This story couldn't have gotten any better. I loved how much it reminded me of Keira Knightley's Pride & Prejudice and was just a super awesome, fluffy, cute book. I would recommend this to anyone who loves YA romance and loves Pride & Prejudice.

Question of the Moment 34

Have you read any re-telling books? Like Beastly being a re-telling of Beauty and the Beast? Do you like re-tellings or do you find that they always fall short of the original? Which is your favorite re-telling?

So far i think i have read about 5 re-tellings if you count the 2 Twilight parodies. I really loved all of them, except for the parodies. I think re-tellings are great, because they stick to the original storyline, but give it a new twist. It is easy to identify that they are re-tellings, but it is still acknowledged as its own novel, because it makes you think about things differently, or makes you fall even more in love with the story. From now on if someone tells me its a re-telling of a book or movie that i already love and its YA, i think i am going to have to read it =]

So how do you feel about them? Love em or Hate em? Let me know in the comments below =]

I WAS INTERVIEWED!!

Yesterday i was interviewed by Patti Roberts, author of "Paradox: The Angels Are Here". It was such a fun interview and was just full of fun and unique questions. Check it out and let me know how you liked my answers =D Also if you want to check out more blogger interviews or check out other posts done by Patti please visit her blog: Patti Roberts Book Blog

My name is Becky. And I am a blogger! This is my blog - Book Bite Reviews

Where were you born and where do you call home?
I was born in Oakwood Michigan, and i now live in Monroe, Michigan.

How old are you?
19

How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for about 3 months now

What is the name of the book you most recently blogged about?
I just posted a review for Adrianne Ambrose's "Fangs For Nothing" Which is a Young Adult Paranormal/comedy. It was pretty good =D

What did you think about the cover?
Honestly, i hated the cover of Fangs For Nothing. It's a cartoon graphic of a guy lifting up his sleeve and he has one of those heart tattoo's that usually says "Mom" but his says "You Suck". It's just cheesy and not very glamorous. I'm a big judger of book covers and i feel that the reason i had doubt's about me liking the novel before i read it was because of the cover, but i ended up still liking the novel, which was really nice.

If you could ask the Author 3 questions what would they be?
1. Why did you end the book that way?
2. Did you ever consider writing it in a girls P.O.V?
3. Did you ever think about using a different paranormal creature or adding more than one in the story? Or did you just like the idea of having one and that particular one?

Can you name one of your favorite chapters?
My favorite chapter would probably either be when they meet the vampire for the first time or when Rini went off on Lana.

What was you most favorite character and why?
Xander, because he seemed like such a great guy and a great friend

If this book was part of a series, would you read the next book?
I think i most likely would, just because i did really like it and it kept me reading the whole time. It never got boring.

Was this a book you were asked to review or did you buy it?
I was asked to review it.

Have you written a book yourself or are you planning to in the future?
You see, i have ideas for books and i can tell you what would be a good idea and what wouldn't, but i could never write my own. I  hate writing dialogue so it would be awful. I think i would be perfect for an editor.

What genre is your favorite and why?
YA Paranormal, because i love the YA writing style and how most have romance, but i LOVE paranormal creatures. It gives it that HUGE imagination/fantasy factor.

If you were shipwrecked on a desert island what 3 books would you want with you?
Does my kindle count as one book? hehe if not i would pick Prom & Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg, Twilight By Stephenie Meyer and probably Blue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz.

Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?
I feel like Stephenie Meyer is too famous for normal people to meet now, ya know? And i feel like she might not be as nice as i picture her or maybe she would just turn out to be super weird so i am going to go with my second top author and that is Melissa De La Cruz. I LOVE her!!

Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?
Hardcover, because i love how pretty and shiny they are. I also love that their condition lasts longer (i.e. the covers dont get all bent up) and i love taking off the jacket and seeing how they decided to decorate the hard cover. I love when you take of the jacket and the hard cover isn't just plain with the title, but has some extra little surprise.

Where do you prefer to buy your books?
I did prefer to buy them from my local borders which is Walden Books, but now im trying to save money and borrow from the library, which has been working AMAZING! except now im finding amazing books that i want to decorate my shelves with so if i do end up buying them after reading them i think im going to have to buy from the book depository.

Have you ever read a book more than once?
Yes, i have read the twilight series twice, the catcher in the rye twice, hush hush twice, the first 3 in the vampire diaries twice, and i plan on reading Thomas Amo's "Apple For Zoe" again as well as C.A. Kunz's Childe again. I think twice is my number. I've never read anything more than twice, but you never know, that could change.

Is there a particular movie or TV series that you preferred over the book version?
The only one i can think of is Pride & Prejudice. I LOVE that movie, but i just can't see myself ever being able to read the book, even though i've never tried. Also i haven't read the Harry Potter books yet, and im scared im not gonna like em since i've already watched the movies, but im kinda doubting that one.

What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?
I'm about to start "Forgive My Fins" By Tera Lynn Childs and it is Hardcover (YAY)

What book do you know that you will never read?
"Forbidden" By Tabitha Suzuma , because it is about a brother and sister falling in love and even though i've heard it's really good, it makes me sick thinking about it and that is just one topic that i don't want to be ok with or understand. Sorry, dude, but incest just isn't my cup-o-tea.

Are there any new Authors that have grasped your interest recently and why?
Thomas Amo, because even though he writes Adult Horror his writing style is a lot like YA so it keeps me interested and in his novel he has a lot of factual scary things like the zodiac and other murderers so you get a sense of "this could really happen" while being totally scared out of your mind.
Tamara Rose Blodgett, because she has 2 novels that i have read so far and they are unlike anything i have ever read and if you read them and don't know that she wrote them you would SWEAR two different authors wrote them, thats how amazing she is.
C.A. Kunz, because its a mother-son duo and they write so well that you can't tell two people wrote it and also it's writing that hooks you from the start where you don't want to stop reading.
Aimee Carter, because she makes her novels very realistic and makes it easy for you to empathize with the main character.
And finally Kady Cross, because even though i have only read the prequel her writing is so different and its amazing the imagination she has.

Have you read a book that you would like to rewrite the ending of?
Yes, The Twin Dagger By Zachary Henderson. I wouldn't make it so depressing. I'd make it happy.

What are your thoughts on book trailers?
If they are done well they can be really cool and make me want to read the book, like yours, Patti, after watching the trailer i REALLY wanted to read Paradox, but some are just cheesy and make you second guess the book, like some that i see on TV.

Do you have a favorite book cover - chose up to 3 if you like.
1. Hush, Hush By Becca Fitzpatrick
2. An Apple for Zoe By Thomas Amo
3. Hourglass By Myra McEntire
4. Bad Taste in Boys By Carrie Harris (i know you said 3, but i couldn't pick 3 out of these)

Do you ever blog in your PJ’s?
Im pretty sure thats the only thing i blog in, because i blog late at night and early in the day before i get ready. I'm a night owl, so this is my blogging time =]

Sleep in or get up early?
SLEEP IN!! I HATE getting up early. I do like getting up early and feeling accomplished for getting so much stuff done, but i still end up staying up late, because im a moon child and then the next day im tired, because now im sleep deprived. Its a terrible cycle.
Patti says:  Oh, I know that feeling only tooooo well!

Favorite color?
Green

What are 3 items you never leave home without?
Cell Phone
Wallet
Hair tie

What is your most favorite electronic gadget?
My iPhone, its so cute and such adorable cases and has everything i need when im on the go. The only thing is i can't blog on it. It's not impossible, i just don't like it.

Favorite book character or film character crush.  Yes you can pick 2 :)
Book crush would be Patch from Becca Fitzpatrick's "Hush, Hush" and movie crush would be Robert Pattinson =D

A character you love to hate.
I think it would have to be Damon from The Vampire Diaries. I don't hate him, i just hate when he messes with Elena and tries to make her leave Stefan for him.
Patti says: Me too - i really love the Damon character - his face, that smile, Yum!

Cats or dogs?
I have both, but i think i would pick Cats. They are so mysterious and quiet, and i feel like if they could talk they would be very wise, but i do LOVE cuddling with dogs, especially since i know they wont scratch or bite me =D

White wine or red?
I dont drink wine, but i think i would pick white.

Coffee or tea?
Coffee, but cappuccino

Favorite food?
Potato

Vanilla or chocolate icecream?
Vanilla with lots of toppings =D

What is a movie or TV show that you watched recently and really enjoyed?
Nine Lives of Chloe King, i HAVE to read those books, because that show is amazing
Patti says:  Yes!  I have just started watching that and I really like it!  Also a show called The lying Game and a comedy called Awkward.  Check those out :)  Most of all - the Game Of Thrones - if you like medieval type show.

What is your ideal reading environment like?
In bed, all cozy, late at night, while its raining and everyone in the house is asleep.
Patti says:  Love rainy nights!

Do you like reading outdoors or inside?
This summer i recently found that i LOVE reading outside in a hammock. I found this out while camping and now im trying to get a hammock for my house, but summers almost over so its kind of pointless.

What is your favorite paranormal creature?
Probably Vampires, i don't know what it is about them, but i just really really love them.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
When people sing a song and don't know the words. Even if one word is off it drives me insane and i have to correct them. *sorry*

How often do you blog?
Every day except for Saturday, thats my day off

What book genre have you recently found and fell in love with?
Steampunk, it's so different and awesome, and i love the idea of mixing new technologies with the past, especially renaissance times, and i love the idea of steam powered horses =D

How big is your To Be Read pile?
Last time i counted i have about 53 books and those are just books that i OWN and haven't read that's not just the books that i want to buy/read one day.

Where can we STALK you?

Great Answers Becky, thank you!  Happy blogging :) Patti

BBReview: "Fangs For Nothing" By Adrianne Ambrose and Question of the Moment 33

*Question of the Moment is at the bottom*

Genre: Young Adult -Paranormal
Publishing Date: June 21st, 2011
Page Count: 237
Source: Sent to me by the author
Format: E-Book

Description from Amazon:
Grab some garlic and start sharpening your mother's wooden spoons because there are vampires living in the most unlikely of places.

I’ve always wanted to meet a vampire. Not to stake some poor bloodsucker as he sleeps in his coffin or have some sexy vampiress bite me on the neck, but just to see a creature so rare and infamous. What can I say? Some people want to sail to Easter Island, others want to fling themselves out of an airplane, I want to shake hands with a vampire. Well, maybe I should prioritize getting a girlfriend first, but a vampire sighting is pretty high up on the list. Trust me, a lot of kids my age dream about it. Like my two best friends, Rini and Xander. We spent half the summer searching the most notorious cities in the United States for the undead, but so far, no luck.

That’s why it came as a total shock to discover a living, breathing vampire in our hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. (Okay, so he’s more undead and not breathing, but you get the picture.) At first we were kind of excited, but then pretty freaked because it turns out our new fanged friend has a hold on the city's teenage population and a specific thirst for their blood. Which, in a word—bites.

Review:
To my surprise i actually did like this book. I thought that i wouldn't like it, because its part comedy and that scared me. I thought it was going to be too cheesy for me, but it wasn't at all. It was light humor and i actually really got into it. I really liked all the different characters and how they each were very different, but somehow found common ground to be friends. I also really liked how when more of the characters come into play that it felt like maybe the paranormal wasn't a vampire and could have been some other being all together, it kept you guessing.

I liked the fact that it was a male narration. Sometimes i think we get too used to reading girls POV's and forget that guys have an opinion. Even though the scenes where there was romance wasn't as romantic as when a girl narrates i still liked it and found that, thankfully, it wasn't gross or uncomfortable to read a boys POV on kissing.

I didn't, however, like the ending. I feel like Adrianne built it up to have a happy ending and then it just started to fall flat. I also didn't like how Xander turned out. I really like his persona the way Herbert describes it in the beginning. Now, don't get me wrong i did like how Xander's life plays out, but i just didn't like how all of Herbert's views of him ended up being false.

Overall:
Even though i didn't like parts about the ending i did find the story as a whole to be really good. I found myself glued to the story, just wanting to see what was going to happen next. I was worried that the comedy was going to be cheesy, but it ended up being pretty funny and i enjoyed it. It wasn't one big sitcom, it was just normal teenage fun. I would recommend this to anyone who is into vampires and wants a different change in pace than the typical female narrated, girl falls in love with vampire, happy ending babble that i usually love =]

Question of the Moment 33

Have you ever thought about or wanted to go on a vampire hunt? Not to necessarily kill them, but to just go out and find one to see if they are real?

Would it even be a surprise to you if i told you i have? I don't want to kill one, but i just think it would be awesome if they were real and that i could be one of the first people to find one and not end up dead =D Im pretty sure i would be super terrified once i did find one, though, because i mean i don't know if they are like they are in YA novels, or if they really are like how they're depicted in horror novels. I gotta watch my back until i learn to trust them. I don't think i would actually go a road trip looking for them, though. I would just like to believe that i would. It is something that interests me, just not something i would actually go out and do, because if it turns out they don't exist, i look like the nut case.

So have you ever thought about it? Let me know in the comments below =]

Follow Friday #13

This Weeks Follow Friday Question:
In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

I think i would want zombies to come out. I don't wont the brain eating zombies though. I would want to have the type of zombies that are in Daniel Waters novels, the misunderstood, not meaning any harm, just wanting to fit in zombies that have a genetic trigger that causes them to rise once more after dying. I think that would be super cool and i would definitely be their friend instead of being scared and making them outcasts. How cool would that be? Or even if werewolves were real, again the Jacob Black kind, not the evil monsters, because im pretty sure my boyfriend is one. He is always SUPER warm to the touch. But if that makes him a werewolf then i must be a vampire, because im super cold blooded.

*Make sure you check back, because i ALWAYS reply to comments and also check out my current giveaways going on!*

Booking Through Thursday #12

Booking through Thursday is a weekly meme where we discuss a bookish question.

This Weeks Question:

Sometimes I feel like the only person I know who finds reading history fascinating. It’s so full of amazing-yet-true stories of people driven to the edge and how they reacted to it. I keep telling friends that a good history book (as opposed to some of those textbooks in school that are all lists and dates) does everything a good novel does–it grips you with real characters doing amazing things.
Am I REALLY the only person who feels this way? When is the last time you read a history book? Historical biography? You know, something that took place in the past but was REAL.

I think probably the last time was when i read Anne Franks Diary. I think i don't read historical novels, because when i read i want to be taken somewhere else, i want my imagination to go wild and just get out of real life for awhile. I want to be in a fantasy land and live through the characters in my books. If a novel is about real events, then its not in my imagination and i probably don't want to be in their shoes. Maybe i should try to read more sometime down the road, but it just seems so boring and out of my element.

BBReview: "What Happened to Goodbye" By Sara Dessen

Genre: Young Adult -Contemporary
Publishing Date: May 10th, 2011
Page Count: 402
Source: Borrowed from local library
Format: Audiobook

Description from Amazon:
Since her parents' bitter divorce, McLean and her dad, a restaurant consultant, have been on the move-four towns in two years. Estranged from her mother and her mother's new family, McLean has followed her dad in leaving the unhappy past behind. And each new place gives her a chance to try out a new persona: from cheerleader to drama diva. But now, for the first time, McLean discovers a desire to stay in one place and just be herself, whoever that is. Perhaps Dave, the guy next door, can help her find out.

Combing Sarah Dessen's trademark graceful writing, great characters, and compelling storytelling, What Happened to Goodbye is irresistible reading.

Review:
I was so excited when i saw that my library got this in and especially excited when i saw that it was on audio. I did really like this novel, because i really like Sarah Dessen's writing style and the way she really make you feel like you are the main character. I think it's because she makes you connect so easily, and also its told in the first person narrative so the only view point you hear from is the main character.

This was my second Sarah Dessen novel that i have read, my first being Along for the Ride, and i will admit i didn't like it as much as Along for the Ride. I did still like it, but i didn't love it. It took a really long time because anything really big even happened in the story and the only part that really started having some fast paced writing was over half way through. I still think it was a good story and i really liked how there was dialogue from a bunch of different people, because McLean hung out with a big group of people.

Although there were things about the story that i didn't like, i really LOVED the quality of the audiobook. I think the reader was amazing and i wish she would just read for all of my audiobooks. I really like that she sounded like a young teenager and that she did different voices for each of the characters, but didn't do a fake, deep voice for the male characters. I HATE when audiobook readers do male voices, because it sounds SOOO awful!

Overall:
I think this was a really good story, but i just wasn't in love with it like how i was with Along for the Ride. I think Sarah Dessen's writing style is amazing and i love how easily i can connect with her characters and feel like im right there with them, but the story just didn't do it for me. It took a long time for any big event to happen and there wasn't any fast paced writing that made you want to hurry up and read to find out what happens until the very end.

Question of the Moment 32

How would you feel if your parents got divorced and instead of staying with your mother you traveled around the US with your father for his job, while still being in high school?

I think it would be really cool to travel all over the place, but it would really suck to still be in high school. You would constantly be the new kid and would have to tell your life story over and over again. It would be cool to have a fresh start every time you moved, but you wouldn't be able to have any kind of relationships or friendships, because you know in six months you will be moving again. I think i would think it was cool for a little while, but then it would get old really fast and i would just want to stay in one spot.

Would you be ok with it? Let me know in the comments below =]

Read. Chat. Love. Read-A-Thon - My Experience

YAY!! This was such a fun Read-A-Thon. I really hope that they do more 24 hour Read-A-Thon's, because it was super fun!! Or at least someone else pick up on the idea that sometimes its nice to do a 24 hour one instead of a week sometimes =D I really wish that i wouldn't of had to go to work this morning so that i could have just stayed up all night/day reading like my plan was. Instead i go 2 hours of sleep for a 6 hour shift =D

It was worth it!! I really wish i could have done the 24 hours though, because that would have been totally awesome. I didn't get super far like some of you speed readers. Im only about 62% done with my book, but still its something. I only got to do two of the challenges, because the other two were too hard!! haha

But again SUPER fun, so happy i was a part of it!!

Read. Chat. Love. Read-A-Thon challenge #4

--------------------------------------------------------

Challenge #4

SO this is a fun contest/ challenge. Just come up with a playlist or song that goes with your favorite book or the book you are currently reading.

Since i can't think of one for the novel im currently reading im just going to pick on that i think fits one of my favorite novel. That novel is "Catcher in the Rye" By J.D. Salinger and the song would be "Rich Girls" By The Virgins. I think it would be perfect, because it has attitude toward rich girls, which is kinda how the main character acts in "Catcher in the Rye". If not that novel then it would also really work for "Just In Case" By Meg Rosoff, which is a book that is compared to "Catcher in the Rye". The main character in that novel has the same attitude.

Even if you haven't read either of the two novels i named you should still check out the song, because its so catchy and fun.

Read. Chat. Love. Read-A-Thon challenge #1

---------------------------------------------------------

Challenge #1

Have you ever had required reading for school? Those sometimes boring and painful books to read? Where you would rather watch the movie than read the book?

If you could create your own required reading list, what books would you put on it? Lord of the Rings, instead of Lord of the Flies?

I don't think i can come up with as cool of an idea as Lord of the Rings instead of Flies, but here is my list of things i would have put on there =D

  1. Catcher in the Rye By J.D. Salinger
  2. Speak By Laurie Anderson
  3. Go Ask Alice By Anonymous (even though i was required this in middle school idk if they are anymore more)
  4. The Outsiders By S.E. Hinton (Again it was required for me, but you should still read it)
  5. Beastly By Alex Flinn
  6. Twilight By Stephenie Meyer (idk, this is a maybe, but it did cause social change)
  7. Harry Potter By J.K. Rowling (Even though i have never read them, SORRY, i still think they are good for kids to read. I'll get to them i promise)
  8. Viola in Reel Life By Adriana Trigiani
  9. Generation Dead By Daniel Waters (AMAZING series, and it teaches you about segregation in a different situation)
  10. Along for the Ride By Sarah Dessen (or any Sarah Dessen books, because they all are amazing and teach you something)

Back To School Read-A-Thon -- Post #1

Ok so i know im about 2 hours late to the fun, but hey i had some things to do. My goal is to just read the one book that i have for review, but it looks like its going to be pretty long and i don't want to set myself up for failure so, yea just one book. That book is "Fangs For Nothing" By Adrianne Ambrose.

Follow Friday #12

This Weeks Follow Friday Question:
If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?

This is a really tough one. Hmm... i think i would choose to be in the novel "Beastly" By Alex Flinn, and i would want to be The Beast's friend. He doesn't have any friends after he's a beast and i don't think i would want to be his love, because i think that the girl he ends up falling for deserves to be with him, so i wouldn't want to ruin it, but i would want to be someone who ends up finding out about him and just being his friend and helping him out. I think it would be cool to give him advice and to just be there with him, especially when he is SO lonely.

Booking Through Thursday #11

Booking through Thursday is a weekly meme where we discuss a bookish question.

This Weeks Question:
You’ve just had a long, hard, exhausting day, and all you want to do is curl up with something light, fun, easy, fluffy, distracting, and entertaining.
What book do you pick up?

I think i would have to pick up "Vampire Kisses" By Ellen Schreiber. It's a very light, entertaining read. It's not heavy at all and its such a cute and fast read. Another one i would choose is "Pretty Little Liars" By Sara Shepard. Its not really a light  read since its a murder mystery type, but its very fast and distracting. You can lose your self in those books.

BBReview: "Vampire Kisses" By Ellen Schreiber and Question of the Moment 31

*Question of the Moment is at the bottom*

Genre: Young Adult -Paranormal
Publishing Date: August 5th, 2005
Page Count: 253
Source: Borrowed from local library
Format: Hardcover

Description from Amazon:
In her small town, dubbed "Dullsville," sixteen-year-old Raven -- a vampire-crazed goth-girl -- is an outcast. But not for long...
The intriguing and rumored-to-be haunted mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood vacant and boarded-up for years. That is, until its mysteriously strange new occupants move in. Who are these creepy people -- especially the handsome, dark, and elusive Alexander Sterling? Or rather, what are they? Could the town prattle actually ring true? Are they vampires? Raven, who secretly covets a vampire kiss, both at the risk of her own mortality and Alexander's loving trust, is dying to uncover the truth.
Ellen Schreiber's spooky and stirring romance tells the story of two outsiders who fall in love in a town where conformity reigns, and ends with a shocking surprise.

Review:
Vampire Kisses was such a nice, fun, light read. I finished it in about 5 hours tops and read it straight through. I've had my eye on this book for awhile now, because it always looked really interesting. I love that the cover is so mysterious and doesn't lead too much on. I also like that it doesn't have any of the characters on it, except for what could possibly be Raven's  hand, because then you can imagine what the characters look like yourself.

I am the type of person who read a book cover to cover, i read the author info, the acknowledgements, the back description, the copy rights sometimes. I feel like im almost teasing myself, before finally getting to dive in and read the story. The part that had me SUPER ready and teased to begin was the author info. Ellen Schreiber was a stand-up comedian so i KNEW this was going to have some laughs in it and it did. Nothing dirty, nothing distasteful, but also nothing cheesy. It was just good wholesome light laughter. It really gave Raven attitude and spunk, instead of "im a lonely girl who's depressed" like in most YA.

I really had a good time with this book and got a bit teary eyed when certain things happened. I love the parts with her brother and even though i cannot stand Trevor, i loved their fights. I cannot wait to pick up more from the series, especially when i know my library has them on the shelves so i don't have to put them on hold. The only thing is there are NINE books in this series, plus more, but that just makes me more excited.

Overall:
I really loved this novel. I thought it had the perfect amount of comedy in it and that the jokes were all in good taste. I really loved Raven's character and even though she was different and goth and spunky, she still had a normal quality to her where all readers could relate to her and want to be her friend even if they aren't goth. I highly recommend this read to ALL.

Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ 5/5

Question of the Moment 31

What were you for Halloween? Did you always dress from that genre each year or did you mix it up? And which costume was your favorite?

I have always been very girly things. Princesses, Genies, Snow Queen, Alice in Wonderland. I've never really mixed it up, im always some form of a girl. My favorite costume was when i was about 4 or 5 i was Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I will never forget that costume!! It was the big golden dress, ahh like a fairy tale. Im currently looking to see if they have a belle costume for adults =D

So what were you on halloween? Let me know in the comments below =]
